• Richness and quality of materials is an important factor of the work. Use pastels - good ones. Unison - vibrant and rich colours. 
• Separate out the elements of my language - by using monochrome in sketches and collages. Focus on one element of the language to heighten it. Drawing is a way of heightening the sense of rhythm. Draw to follow routes and patterns. Drawing is a way to be in the moment. 
• Combining photos with textiles; paint over with gouache, tear up and use as collage.
• Stitched sketches - black onto white.
